The programme is offered to people who want to obtain the skills and knowledge required to perform basic welding and metal fabrication tasks. This includes operating portable metal fabrication power tools; applying workplace communication processes in a metal fabrication workplace; assembling and testing oxy-acetylene equipment as part of metal fabrication operations; welding mild steel using the oxy-acetylene welding process in the down hand position; welding mild steel using the manual arc welding process in the down hand position; performing basic estimations, measurements and calculations for metal fabrication operations; cutting mild steel pieces using oxy-acetylene cutting equipment; making templates and jigs; and completing routine tasks using metal fabrication machines.
